“Cold this morning, Captain.”
“Yes…Cold.”
Anyone know what movie those lines are from? I’ll give you a billion dollars if you can guess before the end of this sentence. Did you get it? Those are the very first glorious words uttered by Shawn Connery and an off-screen Ruskie in The Hunt for Red October, the best Cold War era submarine action/adventure/mystery/awesomeness movie ever made by humans (if you guessed it right, I can’t actually give you a billion dollars, but I can give you respect. Isn’t that worth more than money?…you’re right, it’s not). This was the first of a series of movies based on the novels of Tom Clancy, originally starring Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan before they canned him and brought in Harrison Ford to make the rest (then in 2002 they replaced Harrison Ford with Ben Affleck in The Sum of All Fears…the less said about that huge mistake, the better). The point I’m trying to make here, is that if you liked The Hunt for Red October (and everyone did, if you didn’t, there IS something wrong with you), then you’ll love this watch. Why? Because that movie was about some bad-A Communist submariners who defied the USSR to defect over to the United States. This watch, the Russian Diver, did almost the exact same thing. At least it would have if there was still a communist Russia to defect from. The point is, whether you see yourself as a pre- or post-cold war type of guy, this watch will make you feel as awesome as Sean Connery on a nuclear submarine(I asked the guy once what it was like to be him; he said take the best day of your life, multiply it by a billion, throw in tons of money and beautiful women, and I wouldn’t even begin to comprehend what it was like. I don’t doubt it for a second). It’s sleek, classic, and gold-platted with superior water resistance and just the right tinge of rebellion and non-conformism (prefect for the teenage rebel in you who still complains about everything and draws little anarchy symbols all over his notebook).

This Daily Deal special comes from the Diver line that has sold so well for us. Once again, if you’re just joining us here at JomaDeals and haven’t had the privilege of reading my genius humor with subtle social commentaries that will no doubt be studied and hailed long after I’m dead, then I’ll let you know that the Diver line almost always sells out. Every time we bring back a watch from this collection, it disappears faster than Purell at a germaphobe convention (see what I mean about genius humor with subtle social commentaries? I amaze even myself). So don’t wait until the last minute. If it sells out, sadly there’s nothing more we can do. So go ahead and get this gold-platted beauty while the getting’ is good, and be as cool as Captain Ramius in a Russian snowstorm (you see the triple meaning of that first line now? It not only refers to how cold Captain Marko Ramius was physically, but referred to both the misery and cold-ness of the Cold War and the personal awesome coolness of the captain himself. Genius movie).
